The House

Our house is designed for travellers who seek a genuine place to call home right in the heart of Oaxaca’s vibrant culture. Situated in the celebrated Barrio de Jalatlaco — a colourful, lively neighbourhood just a ten-minute walk from the historic centre — the home acts as a tranquil base filled with bright, warm colours and local crafts. This spacious, three-bedroom house is ideal for couples, family reunions, or groups of friends. For those visiting or working remotely in Oaxaca City, you’ll appreciate the fast Wi-Fi that reaches all corners and dedicated workspaces. After a day’s exploring, hang out in the rest net or enjoy the rooftop terrace, ideal for catching the sunset from the hammock with a mezcal and admiring views of the Guelaguetza Auditorium.

Where to stay in Oaxaca city

3 bedroom house

The entire house is available to rent so you will have the space all to yourself. This is perfect for six friends visiting together, a family reunion, a couple wanting the extra room, and those working remotely, as we have a selection of vibrant and creative workspaces to choose from.

In the heart of Jalatlaco

At the end of 2020, we opened our house right in the heart of Barrio de Jalatlaco, one of the best areas to stay in Oaxaca City and the first magic neighbourhood of Mexico. As we are located in a residential neighbourhood, you get to experience the daily life of Oaxaqueños and visitors alike, with street parades twirling past in July during the Guelaguetza, or on any given Saturday as a wedding unfolds, and get front row seats to Día de los Muertos as the festivities pass right past our door.

Enjoy Oaxaca from your bedroom

There are three bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, charm and character. Our brightly coloured Mid-Century design walls create a positive and inspirational feel – something we believe makes ALDEA TUYA stand out from other accommodations. We have individually decorated the rooms with hand-woven textiles from Teotitlan del Valle, so you can experience Oaxaca culture straight from your bedroom.

Head up to the rooftop

Settle in for an afternoon or evening on our comfy sofas, gather around handmade mosaic tables, dine under the disco ball or sink into the hammock on our terrace in the refreshing breeze. At sunset, head to the rooftop for spectacular views of the Guelaguetza Auditorium and watch as the mountains that surround Oaxaca glow. A beer or a mezcal in our hammock should be a daily occurrence and why not throw a dinner party on our rustic tree trunk table overlooking the cityscape?
